(Romans 15: 1-7)

In Christ our Savior we are free

And discerning need always to be

For the sake of others.

Judging seems the easy part

But it is freedom from the heart

With which we nurture brothers.

God tells what not to enter in

It is simply what He says is sin

The rest may be disputed.

We can agree to disagree

Then leave for authority

To approve or refute it.

If words are an affront to us

Jesus takes the brunt for us

They fall on Him.  They are His cup.

Willingly appease the weak

Don’t please yourself as you speak

Not tearing down, but building up.

Help see and hear and bear the load

Of those who walk the Christian road

Look to the One above.

The Scriptures show endurance and

We need no more assurance than

God’s love.

He freely passes hope to us

So in a common mind and voice

Acknowledge and praise the Three in One: Holy

Because He Said So

(Proverbs 3:13, 5:23, 13:24; Col. 3:21)

As I wonder at the wonder of God

I realize how a facade

On the part of parents for their children

Can lead to journeys flawed.

Discipline lacked, folly gained

So what if the small offender complained?

Better that authority has set the bounds

Than abstained.

Early in a child’s life

Patterns begun by husband and wife

Correcting with love, careful and swift

Avoids later strife.

“Firm, but kind,” must persist

Or opportunities will be missed

Show in your home the wisdom of God

Quarreling?  Desist.

Correct your progeny with love

Follow the example of the One above

Trust in our Maker, for He knows all

Do it because — He said so.
